To inspire the next generation of explorers,
    ...as only NASA can.

    Michelle Tamayo

The Colorado Space Grant Consortium Student Focus for November 2006 is Michelle Tamayo.  She is studying Aerospace Engineering at CU Boulder and hopes to pursue her master’s degree in Aerospace.  She started at Space Grant as a structures team member and produced SoildWorks designs and then later manufactured parts for the DINO project.  She also helped design a Rover for the DemoSat III competition.  In the Summer of 2006 she had an internship at the Lockheed Martin Company performing thermal analysis for a satellite radiator panel.  She said that working “at Space Grant helped me during the summer work because I knew about the subsystems of a satellite and about the subsystem team dynamics along with requirements and basic satellite design.”  She has also recently served as a bilingual teacher for an after school program to help lead preteens into engineering.  She is currently on CU Boulder's CubeSat project as a structures team member.
