RocketSat II and II successfully launched and great data was returned

    June 28th, 2007

RocketSat II, COSGCs second launch of the RocketSat program, was a huge success.  It was launched from the New Mexico Space port on April 28th on Up Aerospace's SL-2 flight .  After payload recovery, students analyzed the structure performance and retrieved data stored on EEPROMs.  The flight environmental data was analyzed including acceleration, temperature, magnetometer readings.  Unfortunately the GPS experiment did not work as planned but on the whole the payload performed very well.

RocketSat III, COSGCs third launch was on June 27th on the Microgravity Enterprise Inc flight MEI-F3 from the Las Cruces area. This single plate payload was recovered and again amazing flight characterization data was successfully recovered.  This second flight successfully tested the basic microcontroller system, and some potential payloads which will hopefully be used in the future to provide unique opportunities for students to develop skills needed to fly more student payloads into space.

Flight Results are being compiled and will be available during the Summer of 2007.

Scheduled RocketSat launch April 28th, 2007

    April 21, 2007

The next generation of RocketSat payload will be launched form the New Mexico Space port on April 28th.  The 8 students who have worked on this project will deliver their payload to Up Aerospace on Monday April 23rd.  The majority of the team will be in New Mexico for the Launch on Saturday.  Information about the payload and other details will be coming soon.

    2007 Undergraduate Space Research Symposium

    April 21, 2007

The 2007 USRS will be at 9:30 in the DLC Bachtel Callaboratory on the CU campus.  UNC, CSU-Ft. Collins, CSU-Pueblo, Metro, the Air Force Academy and CU will present their research and papers to Professors and Aerospace Industry to compete for cash prizes.  If you are interested in attending please contact brian.sanders@colorado.eduCheck here for information about the Symposium.

    DemoSat V Launch

    April 15, 2007

The DemoSat V Launch from Windsor Colorado was a great success.  Teams from Western State, Adams State and CU launched and recovered their payloads.  Landing site results looked promising but more information will be known after the teams have time to analyze their data.

    Robotics Competition

    April 07, 2007

The Colorado Space Grant Consortium along with Adams State College present the first Robot Challenge at the Great Sand Dunes National Park on April 7, 2007.   This event is open to all high school and college students. Teams designed robots which navigated to a RF target while avoiding obstacles.  This event will return in April 2008 so start your teams.  More information -  Robotics Competition.

University NanoSat Competition Win with DANDE

    January 18, 2007

It gives us great pleasure to report that the CU team (Colorado Space Grant Consortium in collaboration with the CU Aerospace Department, Air Force Space Command, and NOAA) has won the AFOSR award to design and construct a small satellite in the University Nanosat Competition.  The DANDE mission will bring faculty from several departments and graduate and undergraduate students together to complete this project.  The majority of the work will occur in the Discovery Learning Center.  It is our goal to have a CU-student built Atmospheric Satellite in orbit at the end of the next four to five years.

    RocketSat Launch

    September 25, 2006

The launch of the payload on September 25, 2006 was a near success.  Five students traveled to the launch site and performed final checkout and integration of their payload to the Up Aerospace rocket.  They even help to bolt on the rocket nose cone.  Launch was scheduled for 7am however due to technical difficulties with the rockets communication equipment, the launch was delayed until early afternoon.  Unfortunately seconds into launch the rocket began to corkscrew and reached an altitude of over 40,000ft.  Up Aerospace is working with Space Grant on the next experiment, RocketSat II which is to be launched in Spring 2007.  Information on Up Aerospace's efforts to return to flight.

Upcoming RocketSat Launch in New Mexico!!

    September 13, 2006

Students from the RocketSat program at the University of Colorado Boulder will be launching their first of hopefully many payloads on the UpAerospace SpaceLoft.   The launch is scheduled for Monday September 25th, 2006.  Check out COSGC's RockeSat Homepage for some project details. We will launch out of the New Mexico Spaceport which is near Upham, New Mexico.  If you have any questions or would like more information contact us.

    DemoSat Launch and JPL Presentation

Students from across Colorado launched DemoSat payloads on July 29th from Genoa, Colorado. The technology demonstrations ranged from rovers, panoramic photography, propagation of sound in a near space environment to hear the deployment of solar arrays and modeling the dynamics during the flight to list a few. They then presented their finding to JPL engineers and toured the Jet Propulsion Laboratories.
